The Threshold Singers of Madison will be joining the congregation and providing the music for this year's Day of the Dead service. The all-women Threshold Choir sings healing and palliative songs for people who are seriously ill, dying or grieving. Please bring special photos or mementoes of loved ones, along with your thoughts, that you'd like to share as we build an altar in their honor.

News & Announcements

Housing and Property's Fall Work Day, Oct 29 9:00am – 1:00pm.  The main tasks will be outside cleanup of leaves and tidying up bushes etc.  We'll also have inside tasks of cleaning windows and some of our nooks and crannies.  If you have something you think should get done, do let John or I know.  We'll have a list available for folks to work there, so come and we'll put you to work!  Someone said there will be a prize for the best zombie, but that's so far an unsubstantiated rumor. There will be some snacks and drinks, that I know will happen.

Dirk Herr-Hoyman, H&P Chair.

Please attend our third governance planning session Sunday October 30th at 11:45 am to 1:15 pm. We will be deciding on recommendations to the folks writing our new bylaws, so this is an important meeting. We want your opinions! Food will be provided. See you there!

Circle Dinner Kick-Off!  Circle Dinners will start on Sunday evening, October 30, at 6 pm with a general potluck dinner at Prairie.  Circle Dinner assignments will be made available that Sunday at the service and Sunday evening at the potluck.  Everyone is encouraged to come, especially those who have not yet signed up but wish to. Bread, salads, entrees, or desserts are welcome.  Please contact Dan Proud at 236-2229 or Rick Ruecking at
838-8540 with questions.

Social Action Committee Endorses Bank Transfer Day
Prairie's Social Action Committee has voted to endorse Bank Transfer Day. As discussed on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/Nov.Fifth, this event seeks to encourage individuals with accounts in big for-profit banks to close those accounts on or before Nov. 5, 2011, and to transfer the money to local member owned not-for-profit credit unions. The committee hopes its action will encourage area residents to make the switch. Many Madison area credit unions accept as members anyone who lives or works in Dane County.
